Honestly, I was a bit disappointed when I realized that each of Henry’s wives were going to be played by the same actor. One of the things I look forward to in theatre, especially in period pieces, is the costumes. With one woman in one costume I could tell this wasn’t going to be a “costume drama”. So with the revelation that Til Death: The Six Wives of Henry VIII was a one-woman show, aka, a one costume show, I prepared for an attire-less evening.

Within minutes all my disappointment evaporated with the laughter that engulfed me from...

Brought to you by Fork in the Road Theatre, One Good Marriage is part of the Dramatic Series featuring theatrical works by published playwrights. Written by Ontario playwright Sean Reycraft, this script tells a mysterious tale of two newlyweds Stewart and Steph. The first words we hear are:  “Everybody died.” But we aren’t told what that means. At least, not right away.

Many fringe plays incorporate humour. Humour, when successful, makes people laugh and entertains. It takes courage to write and produce a play that makes people think and that is what Shake the Sheets does. It makes you question reality, creativity and imagination. Shake the Sheets is courageous and should be applauded for pushing the boundaries of storytelling.

Written by Mack Gordon, the play features Gordon and Kaitlin Williams as husband and wife who are struggling artists and trying to connect their individual needs and desires....

There are a number of elements of this piece that I very much enjoyed, I thought the dialogue was well written and the pacing was wonderfully executed by the two actors with fierce commitment and powerful intentions.  In writing this, Munish Sharma tackles the universal themes of family, love, and traditional values with a skill and precision that kept me actively engaged in the show. Award winning actress Nimet Kanji is a fierce force to be reckoned with. She stings Raj (played by Actor and Playwright Munish Sharma) with sharp one-liners like “You are...

It's not often that I find myself sexually titillated by clowns.

The Sama Kutra was one such occasion. And as I go over this colourful and electric performance in my mind, it's clear that there was more motivating it than mere shock value.

A needle swings ever more wildly between silly and sexy as a clowny couple (Sizzle played by Jacqueline Russell and Spark played by Jed Tomlinson) try to revive their crumbling relationship with the help of the eponymous magical erotic book. The makeup, the humorous acting, and the wild props all combine to create a layer of separation...
