Suburban Motel Has A Kind of Criminal Genius

Suburban Motel

I am not entirely sure if this was supposed to be funny because the previous five plays were very dark and I was expecting much of the same tone. Whatever the case, it didn't matter to myself as I was very happy to laugh in the little motel room.

The story relates the adventure of Rolly and Stevie, a father and son criminal organization of the type you would see running from the Keystone Kops. The would-be criminals are hired by a lack-lustre criminal by the name of Shirley, featuring Kate Richard in a role that is the complete opposite of her previous one in Featuring Loretta. Shirley has hired Rolly and Stevie to commit a very simple crime and they decide to mess it up by kiddnapping the heiress to a criminal empire played by Katie Takefman in the role of Amanda.

I don't know what more to tell you about the plot as I don't want to give it away. You must see this one to believe that individuals could actually pull this caper off. They are incompetent and silly but never do you believe that the situation may never actually happen. I think this production has very strong performances and they maintain the integrity of the work as a whole.

You must check this out to believe it. I think this would be a hard piece to pull off due to the excessive violence in the plot. We have people burning down buildings, shooting each other, marching on armoured and guarded buildings, this play has it all!

Even though it has some decent and hard content to work through, I liked it. Enjoyable work and I think we have some new theatre stars cutting their teeth on this play.
