Boobies, Tits, Breasts and Bosoms – That's a LOT of Mammary Glands

Comedy, Drama, New Work - http://www.gailmackenzie.com/

Produced by a company called Me, Myself and I, this show is precisely as advertised in its fairly brief show description. A one-woman show with four characters, we meet multiple generations of women in one family who have some divergent issues with their respective chests.

There's 10-year old soccer-loving Emma, her narcissistic older sister Jessica, their mother Ann and elderly great-grandmother Dora. We meet each in turn, learning more about their stories through the thoughts of each one.

Created as a series of four monologues, I saw this show as an exploration of stages of life and the impact of breast cancer in multiple generations. Using costume changes including four different pairs of shoes, the actor offered a portrait of the various ways women at different ages relate to their breasts and the impact that breast cancer can have on just one family.

I believe that Boobies, Tits, Breasts and Bosoms is a real example of the Fringe motto – theatre for everyone. Fringe Executive Director David Jordan told me that this performer was truly excited when she was chosen through the Fringe lottery to have a slot in the 2012 festival. She is rising to the challenge of creating a story which is important to her and bringing it to the stage.

At the end of the show, the actor came onstage and told us that the ticket sale proceeds would be given to the Breast Cancer Foundation. Consider seeing Boobies, Tits, Breasts and Boobies if you're interested in this topic or want to support a show by a new theatre artist.
