Ever wondered what actually goes on during a phone sex conversation? Well… your time for wondering is over! Three times Fringe award-winning writer and performer, Cameryn Moore, has turned her own experiences as a phone-sex operator into a confrontational one-act play - not for the prude or faint-hearted.

Set in her living room late at night, Moore’s character Larissa takes several ‘seven-minute request’ calls from men, many of whom are regulars, wanting to fulfill their sexual fantasies and ‘release themselves’ before going to sleep.  Within minutes, the audience is thrown right into the thick of it with the first caller – Steven F – who clearly gets off on Moore pretending to be a super thin, 28 year- old, sex-goddess with long brown hair, green eyes and a 36HH bust who gets pleasure from allowing Steven to ‘titty-fuck’ her. The language she uses is dirty and rough, creating visual images that certainly do not forgo any details, but ironically, she still propositions the audience with “I bet you wish I put these calls on speaker phone”.

The calls only get more confrontational and complicated as the play progresses, and at times, you may wish you didn’t buy the ticket that got you here in the first place. Each time the phone rings, you can feel the mood change and the tension increase as the audience sits and waits in anticipation for the next unfathomable fantasy to unfold. But the compassion and empathy for which Moore obviously feels for these men is portrayed so honestly that you can’t help but feel transfixed by her talent. Not just as an actor, but as a sympathetic, caring, non-judgmental, human being. “As long as it stays over the phone” she says, “that’s good enough for me."

Between callers, Larissa (or is it Moore?) confides in the audience about her job, and the effects it has on her own life and relationship, as she fights to stay awake with her coffee, cigarettes and cold jam toast.

While the content may not be everyone’s cup of tea, Phone Whore is real and Cameryn Moore’s performance is exceptionally honest. You are bound to walk away from this show with a strong emotional response that you haven’t experienced in a long time.
