Dr. Frightful Presents: Dead Air - Delightfully Delectable

Fringe Description: Funny · Silly

Humorous, exuberant physical comedy, in this play within a Radio Play. The Neverending Highway Productions from Saskatoon, have successfully captured the style of the "Golden Age of Radio". Add fascinating characters with a dash of eccentricity, mix in conflicting objectives with a twist in plot line and a cast who was clearly enjoying bringing the story to life and you have the ingredients for a delightfully  delectable evening of Theatre.

However, I was not completely engaged throughout the show, at times and it lacked the precision and pacing required for this type of physical comedy and to have us "rolling in the aisle". Don't get me wrong we were laughing but the script builds to a twist in the plot line and for the climax to work to the fullest extent it needs meticulous pacing and specificity. I mention this because, it is very clear that these actors could tell the story in a way that brings all of the physical and emotional comedy out of script. I know this because they were "on" more than they were "off" throughout the show. This could be a phenomenal production as the actors have the skill, understanding and intelligence to pull it off and have us gasping for breath we are laughing so hard but it didn't totally come together or at least it didn't the night I saw it.

This show is definitely worth seeing, I just felt that the potential was there for them to fully land it in every way.
