Do I Have To Do Everything My Fucking Self? - Glamorous Cardio-Storytelling

Toronto indie musician “Gentleman Reg” is Regina, a self-assured drag queen who tells her story of growing up in Guelph. She begins with how she got “out of the closet” that she was the last to know she was in. Now Regina, a true diva, is ‘out’ and taking audiences on a first date full of ‘80s inspired song, style and dance. She performs some original songs from her album as well. Her monologues are literally glamorous as they engage us with witty lyrics that poke fun at everything we want to poke fun at, including ourselves.

This play is fun, silly, and entertaining from start to finish. You will be gripped with thoughts of what might come next. You will never guess. I was amazed at how physically fit Regina is. After performing numerous aerobic dance vignettes à la Jane Fonda infused with Mick Jagger, she would break back into a soft rant about her boredoms in the bedroom. Hilariously over the top, this show is not for children, but great for anyone else who wants to be oddly turned on by Regina’s perspective on Men, Women, Orgies, and Miley Cyrus. Great sound. Brilliant production and lighting.

In this complex world of egos and imagery, Regina ends by asking us in a poignant musical rant - DO I HAVE TO DO EVERYTHING MY FUCKING SELF? I say yes. Keep doing what you’re doing.
