Dear Life - An Excellent Story

Genre Definition = Intense · Poetic · Funny

After the thunder and lightning and rain we, the audience were all gathered at the base of Waterpark Hill. For all those of us who grew up in Vancouver we all remember the big yellow slide at Granville Island. Fun summer days where we played pretend and whatever our little imaginations came up with became part of that playground. Well, we got to be part of that magic one more time. This night however we marched up the long stairs…up to the ship of dreams.

As we cast off into the realm between life and death we all had our specific duties given to us by Isolde (Sylvie LaRiviere) our captain and a quick intro to boat 101. Then the story of two sisters Jen (Sophia Woodward) and Vivian (Christine Bissonnette) in this imaginative world begins.

The playwright (Sophia Woodward) has written an excellent story with a wonderful way of pacing and revealing.  Both main performers (Sophia Woodward and Christine Bissonnette) showed us their acting chops and their ability to jump from one emotion to the next which naturally helped with this performance. We also had a great supporting performance by Nayden Palosaari. His character “Anybody” brings in the sprinkle of tension and humor between the sisters. These characters and the other secondary cast members did their part in creating a wonderful, intense drama.

It is a must see if you have a chance. Everyone in this play seems to be starting out in their careers and it would be cool to say “yea, I saw them at the Fringe”. They all are gifted and we hope to see more in the future.

Also remember it is a site specific show and it is outdoors, so be weatherproof ready.
