BONUS REVIEW - Caws and Effect

Fringe Description: Funny · Weird · Poetic

I went to see the preview of Caws and Effect at Havana.  I'm very glad I did.  It was a packed house and I suspect that the word will get around and ensure every show is full.  The actors/artists/overhead projector whizzes (Chloé Ziner and Jessica Gabriel)  make this a magical event from the beautiful soundtrack and the startling way these actors capture the physicality of crows, through the artistry of overhead projection and artwork that depicts the movement of fish, birds, worms and much more. Even the simulation of a crow crying over the death of a loved one was profound.

But I also laughed out loud, a lot.  Anyone who shares their neighbourhood with crows will recognize the different cries. The choreography is also impressive as these two actors share the use of two projectors in a small crowded space but never seem to miss a beat or get in one another's way. Overhead projectors will never be the same again.  Mind of a Snail, a Vancouver company, provides 50 minutes of what it means to be a crow in these tough times.

Havana is a small space, tickets will go fast, don't delay.
