Tuesdays with Morrie: "You gotta go, you gotta go”

Victoria: Adapted from the bestselling novel, Tuesdays with Morrie is the true story of Mitch Albom and the lessons he learns from his university professor, Morrie Schwartz or “Coach.” 40 years after he has left school, Mitch learns of his coach’s fatal illness and returns to his side every Tuesday to listen to his final lectures.

While the premise is gloomy, this is perhaps one of the most uplifting shows I’ve seen at the Fringe so far. Yes, it is a drama, and yes, it is 90 minutes long—but these actors are so in their characters that you’ll walk out wishing to stay for another Tuesday, yourself. The divine Antony Holland’s is breathtaking in his performance as Morrie, while David MacPherson manages to gut-wrench the audience as he unravels Mitch’s shields (with one rehearsal – one!).

With darling personality and utmost wit, Morrie Schwartz is sure to charm you. You’ll have a laugh, sure, and it’s possible you’ll leave questioning your own perspective on life and death, but I promise it won’t be in a movie-of-the-week kind of way.

Come prepared – a tissue might be necessary, and well earned.
