Someone Who'll Watch Over Me

MBUH Productions’ presentation of Someone Who'll Watch Over Me features students from the acting program at the University of Victoria’s Phoenix Theatre. Up and coming actors Alex Plouffe (As You Like It, Blue Bridge), Liam Volke (Medea, Phoenix Theatre), and Shaan Rahman (Lionel, Phoenix Theatre), all of whom are slated to appear in this Fall’s Romeo & Juliet, take the stage as three men unlawfully imprisoned in Lebanon during the early 1990s. Plouffe will also be appearing in milkjug productions’ BOYGIRL opposite rising star Samantha Richard (Death of a Salesman, Blue Bridge, Wind in the Willows, Phoenix) at this year’s Fringe.

The play’s themes include the issues of terrorism and hostage-taking relevant to today’s international political climate, as well as themes of hope, love, and the human spirit. Due to the subject matter of the piece, $1 from each ticket sold will go to support Amnesty International.

The show is directed by Darcy Stoop, another Phoenix student, whose past Fringe credits include stage-management for Victoria’s own Pitch Blonde at the 2008 Calgary Fringe Festival. This March marked his public directorial debut with Randall Sawka’s Formula for Love at the Metro Studio (Coppertree Productions).

Produced through special arrangement with SAMUEL FRENCH, INC.

Someone Who’ll Watch Over Me is part of the 23rd annual Victoria Fringe Festival
