Barry Smith's Baby Book...

Barry Smith’s Baby Book…Barry Smith’s Baby Book…Company: Aspen Comedy Works
Duration: 60 minutes
Waterfront Theatre

2007 Vancouver Fringe “Critic’s Choice Award” winner Barry Smith (Jesus in Montana, American Squatter) began life as a baby, and immediately started documenting every detail of his existence. His early passion morphed into a bizarre obsession bordering on total insanity. A disturbingly funny multimedia comedy about mountains of junk, tackling the perennial question “Who saves this stuff?”

Another great show

I’ve gone to Barry Smith’s last two show as well. They are all brilliant! About a laugh a minute. I really enjoyed Baby Book. Insightful, meaningful, and left me laughing long after I left the theatre!

I loved it right from the start

i went to this show today and by myself…unfortunaley i sat in between two people who seems not to like it. i wish they weren’t beside me at all. I can’t believe anyone would not love this play. I laughed so hard…he is soo funny. I loved all his stories and i could really relate to him…i was born just 2 years after him, thus can relate to the way life was back then in the late 60’s and early 70’s…my dad too wore clothes like his dad and we too had the same kind of furniture and clothes and hair dos…..and i too had big glasses…i felt like i was travellin back into my past…this show is amazing…entertaining, funny, he is a wonderful story teller, and i loved the screen with all the pictures, video and other token from his past….i left wishing that i should have kept more from my past so i can remember the good o’l days

Barrie does a good job of

Barrie does a good job of dissecting his baby book and making meaning and humour of it. He reveals himself to be a packrat and shows artifacts of his life in a brisk power point presentation of his life so far, mostly in notes and photos collected over the years. I recommend it. Consider the show a refined version of watching another person’s vacation photos but more ruthlessly editted.

Like With Wine...

Every year I see Barry Smith he just keeps getting better and better… I am astounded at what an easy going good natured fellow he seems to be – more than that I am more and more impressed with how I can actually follow every part of his story. Too often I will see a one (person) show and not have a clue how to follow it. Perhaps I am a product of the TV generation – who knows? Regardless – I followed every inch of Barry’s story – and actually remembered frequently members of his family from his last year’s “American Squatter” – I can hardly wait to see what he has in store.
The Waterfront Theatre is a great venue for him – so get to the show while you still can!
