I laughed ; I cried
Wonderful — everything a fringe production should be. It successfully achieves a fine balance between humor and and a serious look at male relationships through the lens of health issue that strikes at the core of masculine identity.
Ballsy!
Personally, I feel that plays which truly hit on the essence of masculinity with their content, style, and execution are depressingly scant.
Balls is an incredibly crafted piece. Certain parts were absolutely hilarious (including a certain part regarding a gift-wrapped magazine, about which I will not reveal any more) and other parts embodied the essence of camaraderie with a sentimental, yet consistently masculine touch.
And as a survivor of certain cancer-afflicted loved ones myself, I have to say the accuracy and realism of the writing and acting was impeccable.
Don’t miss this show.
